EMERALD DAMSELFLY

This attractive metallic green-bodied European dragonfly well demonstrates the independent movement of the front and rear pairs of wings, each wing powered by independent muscles. The so-called more advanced insects such as flies and bees only possess a single pair of wings which are powered by muscles attached to the thorax which oscillates like a pulsating box.
